Born in Havana, the Mojito has always been a staple to sunny regions where a nice refreshing drink is in high demand! With only 5 ingredients this simple highball has been the go to for many bartenders and avid drinkers time and time again, and for a good reason! Its balanced enough not to offend those who haven't yet warmed up to a more booze cocktail (like a Manhattan) but refreshing enough that even the most hardcore old fashioned drinking wouldn't turn one of these down on a hot day!
Below Iv'e added the recipe and method found in Death & co. so please do explore and experiment with different syrups, maybe try a different soda, or if ya wanna get real crazy start infusing a rum. If all that sounds like too much, enjoy this simple classic for what it's meant to be simple and delicious!
Mojito
6 Mint leaves
3/4 oz. Simple syrup
2 oz. Cana Brava rum
1 oz. Lime juice
2 drops Angostura bitters
1 Mint bouquet
In a shaker, gently muddle the mint and simple syrup. Prepare your crushed ice. Add the remaining ingredients and whip (shake with a few pieces of crushed ice just until the ingredients are incorporated). Open Dump into a double rocks glass and fill the glass with crushed ice. Garnish with the mint and serve with a straw.
This is one of my favourite recipes, its a little closer to a classic margarita making a little more booze forward and right up my ally, if you're not like me and want something a little taller to really quench your thirst, try topping this up with 3oz of soda before you enjoy!
Stay safe and Thanks for reading!
